Vegan Lingo Explained

I know this is not a vegan recipe at all, but I think to be an even cooler vegan (because you're already cool if you're vegan), then you should know these terms.

Nutritional yeast= nooch (aka DELICIOUS vegan cheese and an excellent source of B12)

Blueberries = bluebs

Strawberries = strawbs

Bananas = nanas

Coconut = coco

Avocado = avo (vegans put avo on EVERYTHING)

Frozen = fro

Seitan = usually used to make vegan meat and derived from the protein portion of wheat

Tofu = used to make vegan meat, made from soy and very high in protein (if crumbled, tofu can also be used to make a tofu scramble, which is the delicious vegan equivalent of scrambled eggs)

Tempeh= also used as a vegan meat, very high in protein, and also made from soy

Quinoa = (AKA queen of like everything) a seed that can be used to replace rice in almost every dish and again high in protein

Vegenaise = vegan mayo

Daiya = company that makes vegan cheese

Hummus = vegans are pretty much 90% hummus because we eat so much of it

Aquafaba = thick water in which canned garbanzo beans come in and it can be used to replace eggs in vegan meals and desserts

Rawnola = a raw version of granola and it's made with oats and dates as a base and sometimes contains other add-ins
