How to Make the Perfect Smoothie Bowl

For anyone that's not living under a cave, you have probably heard the word smoothie bowl. Everyone and their mama is making them. You have probably seen the amazingly vibrant pink smoothie bowl, which is made with pink dragonfruit (they look so good!). Essentially, the name explains it all: a thick smoothie in a bowl. First, one thing that should always be in your freezer is frozen bananas. These help to make the smoothie like ice cream. I find that when whenever I use frozen bananas, they make it thick and creamy. Yum! So before making your smoothie bowl, thaw your frozen bananas for 15-20 minutes. Then, place the frozen bananas in your blender. The formula for the rest of your smoothie bowl is as follows. Pour 1/4 cup of your liquid of choice (plant-based milk, coconut water, or fruit juice). Then, add fresh or frozen fruit. I like adding frozen blueberries and 1 frozen acai pack. Also, I usually add some greens to my smoothies. This may sound weird to you, but if you add spinach, you can't even taste it! Now that you have all the ingredients in the blender, blend! For toppings, you can add nuts, more cut up fruit, seeds, shredded coconut, granola or muesli, goji berries, or even carob chips (which taste like dark chocolate). Sometimes, I even add a scoop of nut butter. This makes my smoothie bowl taste really DECADENT! Here are some of my smoothie bowls, so you can see a few, but a quick search on the Internet will let you find thousands more that are a little more artistically done. People are so dedicated to smoothie bowls, there might be some people who become smoothie bowl designers for a living (I am serious, they look like works of art).
